International Money Transfer to India: Courtesy - Western Union and India Post
As a result of the collaboration of the Department of Posts, Government of India with the Western Union Financial Services, USA, a state of the art International Money transfer Service is now available through the post offices in India, which enables instantaneous remittance of money from 185 countries to India. The recipients can in fact collect the money in minutes after the sender has made the remittance.
The service is targeted to particularly fulfill the needs of NRI dependent families in India, visiting International tourists and foreign students studying in India.
The International Money Transfer process is as follows: -
1. To avail of this Service, a remitter goes to any one of the more than 100,000 Western Union Locations in the 185 countries in which the Service operates , fills up a "To send money" form and pays principal amount and charges. The sender gets a Money Transfer Control Number on a receipt after the transaction is sent through the system. Thereafter, the sender calls up his/her payee and gives information on the money sent. The Payee / Receiver goes to the post office , fills up a "To receive money" form shows valid identification and receives money along with the receipt, once the transaction is verified. This entire process is completed within ten minutes.
2. The Payee receives the full amount in Indian Rupees. There is not more than 2500 USD can be sent at a time as per applicable RBI regulations which must however be only for personal use..
3. The Post offices have been directed to treat the payee as "Most Favoured Customers", which ensures courteous and efficient service to them.
4. For the sake of facilitating the transactions, the recipients can use any one of the following documents to establish their identity:
a) Voter Card b) Passport c) Driving License d) Income Tax PAN Card
5. The Post office also provides its own identity card to regular customers so that other proof of identity does not have to be provided by them again.
6. The service is currently available in all the State/Union Territory capitals and other major cities in the country and by the end of March , it is proposed to be expanded to Head Post offices at the district headquarters.
7. This International Money Transfer Service is safe, legal, fast & reliable. Also, it is approved by the Reserve Bank of India and is being provided by a Department of the Government of India i.e. the Department of Post.
9. At present the Post office will only provide its customers with the facility of receiving money and not of sending money from India to other countries, as per applicable RBI instructions.
10. On the request of the NRI community , the department is open to extending the services to any other location (village/town/city) as well, which has the potential clientele.

International Money Transfer
International Money Transfer
International Money transfer can be done by the following ways:
Transfer through a Bank:
One of the readily available option. Be wary of the transfer fees, commission the bank takes and the lesser exchange rate your bank may levy. Most banks these days have special services for expatriates. You can also transfer money through wire transfers. This is done through your general bank account in which Third party fund transfer is activated. You transfer the money to the desired receiver’s credit/debit card account.
Currency transfer Companies:
These are your best bet in my opinion. Not only they give best exchange rates, but also levy minimum or no commission or fees. Transfer companies, like Western Union Money transfer, have tie ups with banks all around the world and provide best service. They also give advice on when it is best to do money transfers, based on their expert knowledge on foreign markets. Western Union is in the business for more than 150 years. They are a global leader in money transfer services, offering the ability to send money to more than 320,000 Western Union Agent locations in over 200 countries and territories. You can always count on Western Union to transfer money.
Other Brokers:
Make sure these are approved by FSA (Financial Services Authority.) These brokers follow the strict financial regulations including maintaining separate client accounts that protect your money. You only deal with FSA authorized brokers.

Mr. Money Content
Money…ahh…Money. This one thing seems to control our lives. Money, or the lack of it, seems to mess up our lives. Money as such is a wonderful thing, as long as you have the right philosophical approach. We need money to live a comfortable life. But never for a second think that you need money for a happy life. Happiness originates from a human soul and comes out as positive actions. And in turn, a happy human being spreads the happiness virus to everyone around him.
Do you notice that either the super rich group or the poor group is not happy, but the content group is! Because content people understand that they don’t need all the money in the world to be happy. They don’t spend money on things they could live without. One such person in the content group is Mr. Content Money.
So who is this Mr. Content Money? And what the heck is his approach to money? He associates the following five aspects with money. These five aspects are important no matter in what stage of life you are. His inflow-outflow may be described as follows.
Earning:
He accepts that work is worship and that doing some work for one-third of the day is a good way to live life. Notice that “Work” here can be his business or employment or hobby or anything that will pay him money. So by working, he earns money.
Living:
He has to live a comfortable life. So he spends money for food and clothes, pays bills, spends on entertainment, spends a little bit on necessary material things.
Debt/Credit:
He knows that Debt can be a killer. So he tries to avoid it most of the times. But, he also knows that he can be in debt and use the money he borrowed in areas which will give him higher returns, that way he can clear the debt in long term while making money through his investments. He uses his credit card wisely and never buys anything he can’t afford.
Investment:
He invests in real estate, stocks either directly or through mutual funds, or foreign exchange trading and other assets which he knows will give him better returns that satisfy his risk appetite.
Safety/ Savings:
He buys a reasonable life insurance or health insurance for which he can afford the premium. He also saves as much as he can in a savings back account, for which he gets a minimum interest. When his savings reach certain level, he transfers the money into fixed deposits or term deposits with a bank which gives him a good interest rate.
If you manage the above five money aspects mentioned above, you can be content just like Mr. Money Content. Understand that, dreaming about money all day doesn’t make you rich or happy. It only leads to frustration. Most importantly you need sufficient money, so that you can focus on better things in life and die as a content person. As the ascetics said, you come empty handed and go the same way. So live a simple life. Any need should come from inside, not from a TV advertisement or a billboard or as an advice from a friend. Keep your needs simple. You will realize you have a lot of money. As simple as that.
