Mr. Money Content

Money…ahh…Money. This one thing seems to control our lives. Money, or the lack of it, seems to mess up our lives. Money as such is a wonderful thing, as long as you have the right philosophical approach. We need money to live a comfortable life. But never for a second think that you need money for a happy life. Happiness originates from a human soul and comes out as positive actions. And in turn, a happy human being spreads the happiness virus to everyone around him.

Do you notice that either the super rich group or the poor group is not happy, but the content group is! Because content people understand that they don’t need all the money in the world to be happy. They don’t spend money on things they could live without. One such person in the content group is Mr. Content Money.

So who is this Mr. Content Money? And what the heck is his approach to money? He associates the following five aspects with money. These five aspects are important no matter in what stage of life you are. His inflow-outflow may be described as follows.

Earning:
He accepts that work is worship and that doing some work for one-third of the day is a good way to live life. Notice that “Work” here can be his business or employment or hobby or anything that will pay him money. So by working, he earns money.

Living:
He has to live a comfortable life. So he spends money for food and clothes, pays bills, spends on entertainment, spends a little bit on necessary material things.

Debt/Credit:
He knows that Debt can be a killer. So he tries to avoid it most of the times. But, he also knows that he can be in debt and use the money he borrowed in areas which will give him higher returns, that way he can clear the debt in long term while making money through his investments. He uses his credit card wisely and never buys anything he can’t afford.

Investment:
He invests in real estate, stocks either directly or through mutual funds, or foreign exchange trading and other assets which he knows will give him better returns that satisfy his risk appetite.

Safety/ Savings:
He buys a reasonable life insurance or health insurance for which he can afford the premium. He also saves as much as he can in a savings back account, for which he gets a minimum interest. When his savings reach certain level, he transfers the money into fixed deposits or term deposits with a bank which gives him a good interest rate.

If you manage the above five money aspects mentioned above, you can be content just like Mr. Money Content. Understand that, dreaming about money all day doesn’t make you rich or happy. It only leads to frustration. Most importantly you need sufficient money, so that you can focus on better things in life and die as a content person. As the ascetics said, you come empty handed and go the same way. So live a simple life. Any need should come from inside, not from a TV advertisement or a billboard or as an advice from a friend. Keep your needs simple. You will realize you have a lot of money. As simple as that.
